Reflection on my TIG project.

Our class started TIG in November. I came to Macklin Public School in February, so I had a late start. When I first heard about TIG, I was really excited because I had never worked on a project this big! I was told that this project would last until May. In the beginning, we would mainly post updates and make our film. Our film had to be 5 minutes long. Later on, we started to work on our brochure, invitations and business cards. My group also made some pieces of artwork that related to our topic. The artists in our group were Wendy and Rebecca. They did mostly all the artwork. To get more knowledge on our understanding, we mailed many organizations. Some of them replied to us and sent us many important books and brochures.

In the middle of the project, we began working on the brochures and invitations. The brochure had to contain facts, statistics and a little about the group. I think that the brochure was the hardest thing to do because everytime we typed it on the computer and printed it, it wouldn’t fold the right way. After we were done making the brochure we started working on our invitations to our big film festival. The invitations were easy to work on because they did not require a lot of work. When we were done making the invitations, we started working on our business cards. We had to give them out to people on the film festival. The business cards were very fun to make. Having one made me look like a professional.

The end of the project was very near. It was getting more and more tense because Mrs. McDonald wanted everything done before our film festival. Near the end, we had to work on our display boards and our lettering. Wendy and I decorated the display boards. The display boards had to contain all the things that we got in the mail, our brochure, invitations, storyboard, business cards and the rest of the important things. I think that the best part was in the middle of the project when we were working on our business cards and invitations. The boring part was researching the information. Now that TIG is over, I am very sad because now we have to get back to normal language. TIG was an enjoyable project. I learned so much. This was like a once in a life time opportunity because other schools didn’t get to participate. I would have never dreamed of making a film that would be viewed to other people. I would love to do this project over again next year and maybe I can make a film that's even better!

Globalize This!

Our group is doing good. Before, we were very behind, and now we're catching up, in fact, some groups are behind us. Our film festival is getting closer and closer, it's on May 20, called "Globalize This". We are focusing more on our flash these days. My other group member and I are working on the display board.

Stereotypes in Employment

Today there is a lot of stereotyping going on in the job industries. For example, if a person comes to a company for a job interview, the person might look at them and they would prejudge them. If they were wearing certain clothes that are not sutaible for the job, the person might think that the person is stupid. If you go for a job interview and you don' t speak proper english, the company might not higher you because they thing that you can't talk properly.
